Our commitments
WeTransfer’s Supporting Act Foundation
WeTransfer’s Supporting Act Foundation is classed as an independent charity in the Netherlands, but has the ability to operate across a wider geography including the US, UK, Italy, France, and Germany, with the potential to expand to other countries in the future.
WeTransfer endowed the foundation with an initial €1 million and will commit 1% of its revenue on an annual basis. The first of these contributions will be in 2023, based on 1% of 2022 revenues.
The Supporting Act provides funding to aspiring creatives including artists, musicians, filmmakers, photographers, and designers. It also provides a series of grants, offering awards for work that aligns with WeTransfer’s values of sustainability, responsibility, and inclusivity. The foundation will also oversee an annual prize, the WeTransfer Award for Creative Excellence.
WeTransfer’s Supporting Act Foundation is the latest step in a sequence of initiatives to support the creative community and the arts.
Since its launch in 2009 WeTransfer has donated 30% of advertising space to raise awareness for up-and-coming artists, creative work, and the world’s most pressing issues—such as climate change, mental health, and gun control.
In 2014, WeTransfer began a partnership with London’s Central Saint Martins College of Art to provide bursaries. One high-profile recipient went on to found his own successful fashion label in South Africa.
In 2016, WeTransfer launched the world’s first free Master of the Arts in Experience Design with the University of the Underground.
The company has provided over €500,000 in grants and sponsorship opportunities to empower creative professionals and creative institutions.
WeTransfer has partnered with more than 300 organizations that share its values and commitments.
