  • Our approach and brand safety policies

    We do advertising a little differently over here. We’ve staked out a premium space that puts your brand in front of the world’s most influential audiences. And with our award-winning in-house studio, you never have to compromise looking good for getting results. We want our ads to be some of the best content that you see on WeTransfer. 

    Advertisers on WeTransfer are responsible for their ads. This means complying with all applicable laws, rules and regulations that apply to the targeted regions (including any advertising codes, such as the CAP Non-broadcast Code in the UK) and to the content of your ads. Additionally, advertisers must also comply with our WeTransfer Advertising Terms of Service and Creative Guidelines. 

    Our advertising reputation is built on delivering impactful, high-quality advertising which is designed to reflect and support our values. We aim to ensure that every impression we deliver promotes all our partners in a positive way. 

    To support this, we've developed a set of principles to ensure that brands advertising with us share our values as part of a wider brand safety policy.

  • Our principles

    Advertising on WeTransfer must:

    1. Respect consumer rights — Don’t create false expectations or an unhealthy lifestyle.

    2. Comply with the law — All marketing communications should be legal, decent, honest and truthful.

    3. Promote conscious buying — Don’t abuse the trust of consumers, exploit their lack of experience or knowledge.

    4. Respect human dignity –– Don’t incite or condone any form of discrimination, including anything based upon ethnic or national origin, religion, gender, age, disability or sexual orientation.

  • How WeTransfer uses your advertising materials

    You grant WeTransfer a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable, worldwide license to use, store, modify, distribute, and publish your campaigns and data on WeTransfer for the purpose of (i) creating the campaign and (ii) for our own Marketing and PR purposes. We reserve the right to remove or modify your campaign, or change the way it’s used on WeTransfer, if it is in violation of any applicable law, regulation, policy, agreement or code of conduct.

  • General Terms

    WeTransfer takes no responsibility and assumes no liability for ensuring that your content complies with all applicable laws, rules and industry regulations.

  • Prohibited content and categories

    In accordance with varying laws and cultures, different countries might have different products and services that are prohibited for advertising. In general, WeTransfer prohibits the advertising of the following industry and trade:

    Prohibited content includes: 

    • Obscenity and profanity

    • Violence

    • Adult and explicit sexual content

    • Spam or harmful content (Malware, Phishing)

    • Discriminatory practices 

    • Content that infringes third party rights, such as copyrights, trade names, right to privacy and data protection

    • Deceptive, false, misleading, or fraudulent claims and information 

    Prohibited categories include:

    • Arms & ammunitions

    • Oil & gas companies

    • Fur 

    • Tobacco/e-cigarettes/vaping/illegal Drugs

    • Payday loans / fraudulent offers

    • Religion or religious causes

    • Defense 

    • Online games of chance and gambling activities

  • Restricted content and categories

    Should the advertiser be qualified and compliant with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, WeTransfer may allow the advertising of restricted products or services at our discretion. The advertiser is responsible for the contents advertised, including the product or services promoted. The advertiser should also ensure that appropriate and necessary legal requirements for the sale and advertisement of these restricted products or services are met and obtained. For advertising campaigns that fall within a restricted category, our account management team will review the context and any current sensitivities surrounding the ad and make a decision as to whether the ad meets our standards at that moment in time.

    Restricted categories include:

    • Competitor services (brands that have features/capabilities which could be substitutes / competitors to any of our products)

    • Cryptocurrency exchanges and related content 

    • Trading platforms 

    • Political entities 

    • Weight loss, dietary and supplements 

    • Pharmaceutical

    • Lotteries and gambling

    • Fast fashion

    • ‘Buy now, pay later’ services

  • Territories and parties

    Due to the international nature of its services, WeTransfer must comply with multiple sanctions and export control laws and regulations. As a consequence, WeTransfer is restricted from doing business in specific territories and with designated individuals and organizations. Our WeTransfer AdSales team can provide more specific information about these restrictions.

  • General Terms

    Our Advertising Terms provide a balanced legal framework for the provision of our services. These Advertising Terms are used together with the IAB Standard Terms and Conditions for Internet Advertising. We may make some changes to these Terms from time to time; the most current version will always be posted on our website. If a revision, in our discretion, is a large change, we will notify you. By continuing to access or use WeTransfer once revisions have become effective, you agree to be bound by the new Terms.
