Workspace security settings let admins enforce rules for every transfer that members send from the workspace, so that security isn't left to each member's choice.
To find them, go to Workspace Settings → Security. Only workspace admins can change these settings, and they apply to all members. These settings are only available on WeTransfer Enterprise plans.
Mandatory password
Tick this to require a password on every transfer. Members won't be able to send a transfer without setting a password first, and recipients will need that password to download the files.
For more details on adding a password to a transfer, see How do I add a password to my transfers?
Email transfers only
Tick this to disable link transfers. Members will only be able to send transfers by email to specific recipients, rather than generating a shareable link that anyone could open or forward.
Limit maximum transfer expiration window
Tick this to set a maximum limit on the amount of time that a transfer can stay available for download. Members can choose a shorter expiry than your limit, but they can't set a longer one.
Use the dropdown to set the maximum: 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 30 days, 60 days, or 1 year.
Limit transfer access control
Tick this to require Access Control on every transfer. This means that members will no longer be able to send public transfers. Instead, the recipient will need to verify who they are before they are able to download files. Use the dropdown to set the minimum level allowed:
- Tracked or restricted: members can use either tracked downloads (anyone with the link can download after verifying their identity) or restricted downloads (only people on the access list can download, after verifying their identity).
- Restricted only: members must use restricted downloads. Only the named people on the access list can download - tracked and public transfers are blocked. This is the stricter option.
For more details on how tracked and restricted downloads work for the sender, see How do I track my downloads with Access Control?
Good to know
- If you change these settings, the change will only apply to transfers made from that point onwards. Transfers that have already been sent will keep the settings that they had at the time of sending.
- Leaving a setting unticked will keep the default behaviour for that rule, letting members choose it themselves for each transfer.
