Curated file-sharing service, WeTransfer, announced today that it has broken through the 1.5 million transfers a day milestone and is still growing. Since its formation in October 2010 the business has seen 127% year on year growth* with 17 files transferred every second. This milestone comes at a time of increased popularity for the company which now has 15 million monthly active users worldwide.
WeTransfer was originally set up in 2009 by Bas Beerens and Nalden as a means to save courier costs and to speedily distribute photography, video and other documents. WeTransfer enables anyone to easily send large files, via email or URL, without any complications, lengthy sign-up forms or banner advertising. The team has championed a service which is unique in its simplicity and ease of use. This, combined with its curated environment has resulted in an average of one in three recipients of WeTransfer files becoming a user.
The company continues to prides itself on the quality, imagery and experience of the service, highlighted though WeTransfer’s longstanding support and involvement with creative communities across the globe.
Bucking the trend of intrusive banner adverts, this demand for impeccable service, cutting edge creativity and the highest aesthetic standards extends to the full-page creative imagery and advertising used on the WeTransfer full-screen background. A full-time team create and curate content, helping drive traffic back to users’ (and advertisers’) websites. WeTransfer puts the love back into advertising, while keeping simplicity at the core.
*From February-March 2013 transfers went from 28 million to 32.7 million, a growth of over 4 million which is the level of overall transfers in May 2011 (18 months after the service went live).
