How do I change my DNS server?

The following troubleshooting steps are meant as a workaround for connection issues.

Changing your DNS server may not be compatible with your internet provider's security processes. We strongly recommend that you reach out to your ISP's support team for help before attempting to change your DNS server.

If our website is unreachable for your computer, and emptying your browser's cache doesn't help, this problem might be caused by your ISP's DNS server not getting up-to-date info about our site.

On Mac

  1. Open System Preferences and click on Network.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Go to DNS.
  4. Click + and add 8.8.8.8 (Google's DNS server).
  5. Apply your changes.
  6. Go to wetransfer.com again.

On Windows

  1. Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
  2. Right-click your active connection (Local Area Connection or Wireless Network Connection) and click Properties.
  3. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), then click Properties.
  4. Click Advanced and select the DNS tab. Note any existing addresses, then remove them.
  5. Select 'Use the following DNS server addresses' and enter the Google DNS addresses: IPv4 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, or IPv6 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844.
  6. Restart the connection.
