If you’re seeing a message that you’re blocked from using WeTransfer, it usually means that a security system has detected something unusual with your account, network, or activity. These measures help protect WeTransfer and our customers from spam, abuse, and other harmful activity.
The type of block you see will determine the steps you need to take.
My IP address is blocked
If you see a message saying that WeTransfer is unavailable because you’re using a blocked IP address, it means your current IP address has been flagged.
This usually happens because the IP address has previously been associated with suspicious activity, such as spam or other abusive behavior, and has been added to a blacklist.
How to fix a blocked IP address
- Disable your VPN or proxy
If you’re using a VPN or proxy server, it may be assigning you an IP address that has already been blocked. Turn off your VPN or try connecting through a different IP address. - Reconnect your internet connection
Many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use dynamic IP addresses, meaning your IP address can change automatically. Disconnecting and reconnecting your router may assign you a new IP address. - Contact your ISP
If you’re unable to change your IP address yourself, your ISP may be able to help assign a different one.
My account is blocked after too many failed login attempts
If you see a message saying you’re blocked because of too many unsuccessful login attempts, this is a temporary security measure to protect your account.
If you have a WeTransfer account, you’ll receive an email from us with instructions on how to unblock yourself. Be sure to check your spam folders and ensure you can receive emails from noreply@wetransfer.com. Follow the steps in that email to regain access.
If you did not receive the email, you likely don't have a WeTransfer account with that email address.
My account says it is being deleted and is blocked
If you see a message saying your account is blocked because it is in the process of being deleted, this means you previously requested to delete your WeTransfer account.
This deletion process cannot be reversed.
Once you receive confirmation that your account has been fully deleted, you can create a new WeTransfer account using the same email address.
My firewall is blocking WeTransfer
In some cases, your firewall or network security settings may prevent you from accessing WeTransfer.
If you see a message indicating that your firewall is causing the block, check your firewall settings and make sure WeTransfer is allowed.

I reached the email transfer limit
To help prevent spam and abuse, WeTransfer applies a soft limit of 40 email transfers per 24 hours.
When you reach this limit:
- Sending transfers by email will temporarily pause.
- Link transfers will continue to work normally.
- The limit will reset automatically within 24 hours of your last emailed transfer.
