WeTransfer lets recipients preview certain file types directly in the browser before downloading. For spreadsheets in formats like Excel or CSV, your client can look through the transfer and choose what to pull down. They can also leave comments on individual files, which makes feedback on a budget sheet or report much easier to manage.


On a free account, you can send up to 3 GB per transfer, which is more than enough for most spreadsheet files. If you're sending large exports, data sets, or workbooks bundled with other files, the Ultimate plan removes the per-transfer size limit entirely so file size never becomes a bottleneck.


You have two options for locking down access. You can add a password to the transfer so that only someone with the password can open it, or you can restrict access to one or more specific email addresses so the download link only works for those people. Both options are available on all plans, including free.


No, recipients never need an account to download or preview files. They just open the link you share or the email they receive and get straight to the files. The only requirement for an account is on the sending side.


On a free account, transfers expire after a maximum of three days, and once they're gone they can't be recovered. With the Ultimate plan, you can set transfers to never expire, so your client can always come back to the link whenever they need it. Ultimate also lets you recover expired transfers retroactively, even for transfers that expired before you upgraded.
