Yes. Recipients can preview images directly in the browser without downloading anything, which is handy when a client wants to confirm they have the right shots before pulling down a large gallery. They can also comment on individual photos and mark favorites, making it easy to flag selects for editing or print without any extra tools.
No. WeTransfer sends files in their original format with no re-encoding and no resolution loss. The images your client downloads are identical to the files you uploaded, whether those are high-resolution JPEGs, RAW files, or TIFFs straight from your camera.
You have a couple of options. You can lock the transfer with a password and share it with your client separately, so only someone with that password can access the gallery. Alternatively, you can restrict access to one or more specific email addresses, meaning anyone else who opens the link won't be able to download the photos. Both options are available on all plans.
Enable download tracking before you send, and WeTransfer will notify you when the client downloads the transfer. For email transfers, you can also see a per-recipient checkmark in your Transfers panel, including the exact date and time of the download. No more following up to ask if the files arrived.
Free accounts can send up to 3 GB per transfer. If you're delivering a full event gallery — think thousands of high-resolution RAW files — the Ultimate plan removes the per-transfer size cap entirely, so you can send the whole shoot in one go. You can also upload folders and WeTransfer preserves the original folder structure, making it easy to organize photos by session or date before sending.
