No. WeTransfer sends every image file exactly as you uploaded it, with no compression, no resolution reduction, and no re-encoding. A high-resolution product flat lay or lifestyle shot arrives with the same pixel dimensions and color accuracy it left your machine with, which matters when retail buyers are making merchandising or print decisions based on what they see.


Yes. Recipients can open the transfer in their browser and scroll through every image without downloading anything first. They can leave comments on individual photos and mark favorites directly in the preview, so a buyer can call out hero shots or flag retouching notes in one pass — no extra review tool, no separate email thread.


You have two tools for this. A password on the transfer means only people you give the password to can open it. Restricted access goes a step further — you specify which email addresses are allowed to download, and anyone not on that list is blocked even if they have the link. Both options are available on all plans, and you can add or update them after the transfer has already been sent.


Enable download tracking on the transfer and WeTransfer sends you a notification the moment a recipient downloads the files. For email transfers, you can also see a timestamp against each recipient's address in your Transfers panel.
