No. WeTransfer transfers every file in its original state, with no re-encoding, no resampling, and no compression that alters your data. A RAW file from your camera arrives at the client's end as the same RAW file you uploaded, and 4K footage keeps every frame exactly as you exported it. The only zipping that happens is a lossless wrapper for multi-file downloads, which does not change the files inside.
Yes. WeTransfer's preview lets clients open the transfer and view images, video clips, audio, and PDFs directly in their browser, without downloading a thing first. They can scroll through individual files, leave comments, and mark their favorites, which makes feedback on a shoot or a cut much more structured than a back-and-forth email chain. Once they have decided what they want, they can download everything or just the files they need.
Two options work well for photographers and videographers. Password protection lets you lock any transfer behind a code you share separately with your client, so the download link alone is not enough to open it. Restricted access goes a step further: only email addresses you specify can open the transfer at all, which is useful for wedding previews, commercial work under NDA, or anything that should not circulate before the client approves it. Both options are available on all plans.
Enable download tracking when you create the transfer and WeTransfer will notify you as soon as your client downloads the files. For email transfers, you can see a per-recipient checkmark in your Transfers panel with the exact date and time of the download. If you want to see who is accessing a link transfer, the Tracked downloads option under Access Control requires recipients to verify their email before downloading, and logs every access in the transfer's activity log.
On Ultimate and above, yes. You can add a custom background image or color and a written description to any individual transfer, so the download page reflects your studio's look rather than a plain WeTransfer screen. You also get a custom WeTransfer page with your own subdomain, logo, rotating wallpapers, and branded notification emails.
