Yes. WeTransfer never re-encodes, compresses, or alters your files in any way. Your Excel workbooks, PDF reports, and Word documents reach the client in exactly the same state they left you, with every formula, embedded chart, and page layout preserved. The only packaging WeTransfer applies is lossless zipping when multiple files are bundled for download, which does not change the files themselves.
You have two complementary controls available on all plans. First, add a password to the transfer and share it with named recipients through a separate channel, so anyone who intercepts the link still cannot open the files. Second, enable restricted access and specify the exact email addresses that are permitted to download, meaning the transfer will not open for anyone outside that list regardless of how they obtained the link.
Yes. Recipients can open PDFs, Word documents, images, and other supported file types directly in the browser without downloading a thing. They can also leave comments on individual files and mark favorites, which makes it straightforward for a client or reviewer to annotate a draft report or flag specific sections before the download happens. No account is needed on the client side to preview or comment.
Enable download tracking before sending and WeTransfer will notify you the moment a recipient downloads the transfer. For email-based deliveries you can see a per-recipient confirmation, including the exact date and time, directly in your Transfers panel. On paid plans, the Tracked downloads option goes further by requiring email verification before access is granted, giving you a named record of every download even for link-based transfers.
WeTransfer handles file types that are completely impractical over email, including large ZIP archives, folder structures sent with their original hierarchy intact, CAD files, and high-resolution scanned documents. Free accounts support transfers up to 3 GB. On Ultimate and above there is no per-transfer size cap, so even a substantial workpaper bundle or multi-gigabyte evidence package goes through in a single transfer without splitting or compression.
