No. WeTransfer sends your files exactly as they are, with no re-encoding, no compression, and no resolution loss. Raw 4K footage, ProRes files, and graded exports all arrive on the other end in the same state you uploaded them.
WeTransfer supports any video format you can throw at it, including MP4, MOV, and everything in between. There are no format restrictions, so whether you're sending an H.264 web export or a high-bitrate camera original, you can upload and send it without converting first.
Yes. Recipients can preview MP4 and MOV files directly in the browser, no download required. This is useful when a client or editor needs to check a specific clip before committing to downloading an entire transfer, and they can leave comments on individual files too.
On a free account you can add up to 10 email addresses to a single transfer. Paid plans raise that to 50 recipients per transfer, each of whom gets their own download notification email.
On a free account, transfers are available for up to 3 days. On an Ultimate plan or above, you can set a custom expiry or keep transfers available indefinitely, which is useful for ongoing projects or when recipients are working across different time zones and schedules.
