Healthcare workflows depend on getting the right files to the right people quickly and securely. Enter your recipients' addresses, add a message, and WeTransfer sends each person a direct download notification, keeping sensitive materials out of email attachment limits and exactly as you shared them.
Deliver files to any inbox
Clinicians, administrators, and healthcare teams regularly need to move files that standard email simply cannot carry: imaging studies, radiology exports, scanned referral letters, consent forms, policy documents, and training materials. WeTransfer hosts those files and routes a personal download notification to every address you add, so each recipient gets a clean, one-click link without needing a WeTransfer account to open it. Every file arrives in its original format and quality, whether it is a high-resolution DICOM export, a multi-page PDF, a ZIP of supporting documents, or a video recording from a clinical training session. A message field lets you add patient reference numbers, case context, or handling instructions so recipients have everything they need before they download. For transfers containing sensitive information, password protection and per-address access restrictions mean only the intended recipients can reach the files.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
WeTransfer supports any file type, so healthcare professionals can send radiology images, scanned referral letters, PDF consent forms, clinical training videos, audio recordings, ZIP archives of patient documentation, and Office documents all in a single transfer. Files are delivered to recipients without any compression or re-encoding, meaning imaging exports and high-resolution scans arrive exactly as they left your system. Recipients receive a download notification directly in their inbox and can access the files without creating a WeTransfer account.
WeTransfer gives you two layers of access control beyond the unique download link. You can lock any transfer behind a password, which you share separately with the intended recipient, so anyone who intercepts the notification email cannot open the files without it. You can also restrict access to specific email addresses, meaning only people whose addresses you name can verify and download, which is useful when sending to a named GP, consultant, or department contact.
No. Recipients, whether a referring physician, a patient services team, or an external specialist, can open the download link and access the files without signing up for anything. Only the sender needs a free WeTransfer account. This removes friction for busy clinical staff who simply need to retrieve what was sent to them.
On a free account, you can send an email transfer to up to 10 recipients at once. On paid plans, that rises to up to 50 recipients per transfer. If you need to reach a broader group, a link transfer generates a shareable download URL you can distribute through internal channels with no recipient cap.
Yes. In your Transfers panel, each sent transfer shows whether it has been downloaded or not. For email transfers, a checkmark appears next to each recipient's address once they download, and hovering shows the exact date and time. On paid plans, you can also enable tracked downloads, which logs who accessed the transfer and when, giving you a clear record of who has received the files.
