WeTransfer never re-encodes, compresses, or modifies the files you upload. A DWG, STEP, IGES, or any other CAD format lands with recipients in exactly the same state it left your workstation, including file size, internal structure, and any embedded metadata. If you upload a folder with a specific directory layout, recipients download it with that structure intact.
WeTransfer supports any file type, so DWG, DXF, STEP, STP, IGES, IGS, STL, OBJ, 3DM, FBX, SKP, and every other CAD or 3D format you work with can be sent without conversion or workarounds. You can also bundle multiple files, mixed formats included, into a single transfer so recipients get everything in one download.
Yes. When sending via email delivery, you can add multiple recipient addresses and each person receives their own personal download notification in their inbox. Free accounts support up to 10 recipients per transfer, while paid plans allow up to 50. Alternatively, a link transfer gives you a shareable URL you can forward to as many people as you like with no recipient cap.
You can add a password to any transfer before sending, meaning only recipients who know the password can reach the download page. For tighter control, the restricted access option limits downloads to a specific list of email addresses, each of which must be verified before anything can be downloaded. Both options are available on all plans and can be set or updated after the transfer has already been sent.
Free accounts can send up to 3 GB per transfer, which covers many individual CAD files and smaller project packages. If you regularly share full project folders, multi-part assemblies, or high-resolution renders alongside the model files, an Ultimate plan removes the per-transfer size cap entirely and lets you send as much as a project requires. Either way, recipients download straight from WeTransfer's servers without the file ever touching an email attachment limit.
