One link, instant access

Getting a ZIP file to someone should not mean wrestling with attachment size limits or asking recipients to log into a platform they have never used. WeTransfer generates a shareable download link the moment your upload finishes, ready to paste into any channel you already use. Your archive arrives exactly as you packed it, with every file, folder, and subfolder preserved inside, so nothing gets lost or reordered in transit. If the ZIP contains sensitive material, you can lock the link with a password or restrict downloads to specific email addresses before you share it. Recipients can also see what is inside certain supported files in the browser preview before committing to a download, which is handy when the archive contains a mix of content and someone only needs part of it.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Create a free account at wetransfer.com, then switch the transfer type to link mode by clicking the ellipsis icon in the transfer window before uploading. Add your ZIP file, click Transfer, and WeTransfer generates a unique URL the moment the upload completes. Copy that link and paste it anywhere, a chat message, an email, a social post, or a document, and anyone who opens it can download your file straight from their browser.

On a free account you can upload ZIP files up to 3 GB. If your archive is larger, upgrading to Ultimate removes the per-transfer size cap entirely, so you can share ZIP files of any size without splitting the archive or using a separate tool.

Link-based transfers have no recipient limit, so you can share the URL with as many people as you like, whether that is one colleague or a whole mailing list. Anyone who has the link can download the file without a WeTransfer account.

On free accounts, links are available for up to 3 days from the moment the transfer is sent. With Ultimate you can set a custom expiry, anything from a single day to keeping the link active indefinitely, so a ZIP you share for an ongoing project stays accessible for as long as you need it. You can also adjust the expiry on any active transfer directly from your Transfers panel.

Yes. Before sending, you can add a password to the link so only recipients who know it can download the archive. You can also enable restricted access to limit downloads to a specific list of email addresses, meaning anyone outside that list is blocked even if they have the URL. Both options are available on all plans and can be set or changed after the transfer has already been sent.
