Go to wetransfer.com, click the ellipsis icon in the transfer window, and switch to the link transfer option before adding your files. Once your spreadsheet finishes uploading, WeTransfer generates a unique URL you can copy and share anywhere, a chat thread, a document, an email, or social media. Recipients click the link and download straight from their browser, no account required on their end.
Yes. Link transfers have no recipient cap, so you can paste the same URL into a group chat, a newsletter, a project management tool, or a company-wide email and everyone who receives it can download the file. If you send via email directly through WeTransfer instead, you can reach up to 10 recipients on a free account and up to 50 on a paid plan.
WeTransfer sends files without any compression or modification, so your spreadsheet arrives exactly as you saved it. Formulas, conditional formatting, pivot tables, named ranges, and macros are all preserved. This applies to XLSX, CSV, ODS, and any other spreadsheet format you upload.
Recipients can preview XLSX, XLS, CSV, and other compatible Office formats directly in the browser before downloading. This is useful when you have shared a bundle of files and someone only needs one specific sheet from the pack, they can check what is inside without pulling down the whole transfer first. They can also leave comments on individual files if you have comments enabled on the transfer.
Before sharing, you can add a password to the transfer so only recipients who know it can access the download. For tighter control, you can enable restricted access, which limits downloads to a specific list of email addresses you define. Both options are available on all plans and can be set before sending or updated on an active transfer from your Transfers panel. Passwords are not included in any notification email, so you share them separately through a channel of your choice.
