Once you have a free WeTransfer account, upload your files and switch to link transfer mode by clicking the ellipsis icon and selecting "Get a link" before hitting Transfer. When the upload finishes, WeTransfer generates a unique URL you can copy and paste into any channel, whether that is an official email, a secure messaging app, or a grant management system. Anyone who receives the link can download directly from their browser with no account required.
Link transfers have no recipient limit, so you can share one URL with a whole team, a network of partner organisations, or an entire donor distribution list and everyone can download from it. This makes link sharing practical for public sector briefings, NGO partner updates, or situation reports that need to reach a wide audience without generating individual transfer notifications.
WeTransfer gives you two access control options you can enable before or after sending. Password protection lets you lock the link behind a passphrase that you share separately through a trusted channel. Restricted access goes further by limiting downloads to a specific list of email addresses, so anyone who opens the link must verify their email before access is granted. Automated malware scanning runs on every upload, and data processing agreements are available for paid plan customers who need them for procurement or compliance documentation. WeTransfer does not view, sell, or share your files, and content is never used to train AI models.
