Sign in to your WeTransfer account, add your files to the transfer window, and before clicking Transfer switch to the link option by clicking the ellipsis icon and selecting "Get a link". Once the upload finishes, WeTransfer generates a unique URL you can copy and paste into an email, a WhatsApp thread, or a project management tool like Procore or Autodesk Docs. Anyone who receives the link can download straight from their browser without creating an account.
Yes. WeTransfer supports folder uploads and preserves the original folder structure, so your recipients download everything organized exactly as you arranged it. This is useful when you are handing off a full drawing package, a set of specifications, or a folder of site photos where the naming conventions and subfolders matter to the person receiving them.
Before sending, you can add a password to the transfer so only recipients who know it can open the link, or you can restrict access to a specific list of email addresses so the link only works for the people you name. Both options are available on all plans and can also be configured after a transfer has already been sent, from your Transfers panel on the WeTransfer website.
WeTransfer sends files in their original state without re-encoding, resampling, or altering the data in any way. Your DWG files, IFC models, Revit exports, and any other project files arrive exactly as you uploaded them, so nothing breaks on the recipient's end when they open them in their CAD or BIM software.
On a free account, download links stay active for up to 3 days from the moment you send them. If your project requires files to remain accessible for longer, or indefinitely for a long-running construction contract, WeTransfer Ultimate lets you set a custom expiry or keep transfers available until you choose to delete them. You can also adjust the expiry date on an active transfer at any time from your Transfers panel.
