No. WeTransfer sends every file exactly as it left your camera or editing suite, with no compression, no re-encoding, and no resolution loss. A 100 MB RAW file or a multi-gigabyte 4K export arrives at the other end byte-for-byte identical to what you uploaded. The only packaging WeTransfer applies is lossless zipping when a recipient chooses to download multiple files at once, which does not alter the files themselves.
Yes. Recipients can open images, video clips, audio, and PDFs directly in the browser without downloading anything first, which is useful when a client or art director needs to confirm selects from a large shoot before committing to a full download. Previews are displayed at a slightly lower resolution than the original, so the actual downloaded files remain at full quality. Reviewers can also comment on individual files and mark favourites directly inside the preview.
Recipients never need a WeTransfer account to download or preview a transfer. For email delivery, you can send to up to 10 recipients on a free account and up to 50 on a paid plan. If you need to share with a larger group, a link transfer gives you a single URL with no recipient limit, which you can post in a client Slack channel, a production brief, or anywhere else.
WeTransfer accepts any file type, so your entire professional toolkit is covered: RAW formats including ARW, NEF, CR2, CR3, DNG, RAF, and others; JPEGs, TIFFs, PNGs, HEICs, and PSDs; MP4 and MOV video exports; audio files like MP3 and WAV; ZIP archives; and any other format you need to deliver. There is no conversion or format restriction on the receiving end either, so clients and labs get exactly the file they need.
Free accounts can send up to 3 GB per transfer, which covers many single-session deliveries but can fall short for heavy commercial shoots or long-form video projects. WeTransfer Ultimate removes the per-transfer size ceiling entirely, so you can send a full wedding gallery, a multi-camera edit, or a complete project archive in one go. Ultimate also lets you set a custom expiry or keep transfers available indefinitely, which is handy when a client needs to return to files weeks after delivery.
