In news and media, timing and quality both matter. WeTransfer delivers high-resolution photos from your browser to editors, picture desks, and agencies exactly as you shot them, with no compression, no re-encoding, and no account required on the receiving end.
No file is too big
Photojournalists and media teams often work against tight deadlines where a slow email server or a rejected attachment is not an option. WeTransfer moves large photo files directly from your browser to any recipient, preserving full resolution on RAW files, TIFFs, and high-res JPEGs so nothing is lost between camera and desk. Every transfer generates a unique download link you can drop into a message, a wire communication, or a production inbox, and recipients can preview images straight in the browser to pick exactly the frames they need before downloading. When distributing a shoot to multiple outlets or picture desks at once, link transfers have no recipient cap, so one send covers everyone. For media professionals handling sensitive or embargoed imagery, password protection and restricted access let you control who can reach the files.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
No. WeTransfer does not re-encode, compress, or alter image files in any way. RAW files, TIFFs, layered PSDs, and full-resolution JPEGs arrive at the picture desk exactly as they left your camera or storage card, with no resolution loss and no color profile changes.
Yes. Recipients can open a preview of supported image formats directly in the browser, without downloading anything first. This lets picture editors scan a shoot, mark favorites, and download only the frames they want, which is especially useful when working across slow or mobile connections in the field.
You can lock any transfer with a password so only recipients who have it can access the files. For tighter control, the restricted access option lets you specify a list of email addresses, and only those addresses can download, regardless of who else has the link. Both options are available on all plans and can be set before or after sending.
Yes. Link transfers produce a single shareable URL with no limit on how many people can access it, so you can distribute an entire shoot to multiple outlets, agencies, or production teams by sharing one link. If you prefer email delivery, paid plans allow up to 50 recipients per transfer. Free accounts support up to 10 email recipients per transfer.
Free accounts can send up to 3 GB per transfer, which covers most shoots but can fill quickly with RAW files or large batches. On WeTransfer Ultimate and above, the per-transfer size cap is removed entirely, so a full day's RAW shoot or a high-volume wire package can go in a single send. Ultimate also lets you set custom expiry or keep transfers active indefinitely, which is useful for ongoing editorial projects or archive submissions.
