Yes. WeTransfer supports any file type, including PDFs, Excel workbooks, ZIP archives, and multi-document bundles, all sent in one transfer from your browser. Files are transmitted without compression or quality loss, so a complex financial model or a multi-hundred-page regulatory filing arrives exactly as it left your machine. On a free account you can send up to 3 GB per transfer; upgrading to Ultimate removes the per-transfer size cap entirely.
WeTransfer gives you two access control options you can enable before or after sending. Password protection locks the transfer behind a password you share privately with your recipient, so anyone who intercepts the link cannot open it. Restricted access goes a step further: only the specific email addresses you list can download the files, and each download attempt requires email verification. Both options are available on all plans and take effect immediately, even on transfers you have already sent.
No. Anyone you send a transfer to can download and preview the files without creating an account or installing anything. They follow a download link, either from a notification email or one you share directly, and the files are available instantly in their browser. Only the sender needs an account, which keeps the process friction-free for external counterparts.
When you enable download tracking on a transfer, WeTransfer records who downloaded it and when, and you can review that activity from your transfers panel. For email transfers, you can see a per-recipient checkmark with an exact timestamp. This is available on all plans, so you can confirm receipt without sending a separate follow-up email or waiting for a reply.
On a free account, you can send up to 3 GB per transfer and up to 10 transfers in a rolling 30-day window, with links expiring after a maximum of 3 days. WeTransfer Ultimate removes the per-transfer size cap, allows unlimited transfers, and lets you set any expiry date or keep transfers active indefinitely. Ultimate also adds the ability to recover expired transfers, including ones sent before you upgraded, which can be valuable if a counterpart needs to re-download a document weeks after the original link expired. For teams sharing files across departments with centralized billing, the Teams plan adds shared storage up to 5 TB and up to 50 members.
