Data files pile up fast. Databases, exports, archives, research packages — they routinely blow past email attachment limits before you've even added everything you need. WeTransfer lets you send them straight from the browser, exactly as they are, with no compression and no file type restrictions. Free accounts handle up to 3 GB, and upgrading to Ultimate removes the size limit completely.
No file is too big
Some files are just too important to arrive any differently than they left. WeTransfer sends your data files without altering a single byte — no re-encoding, no compression, no quality trade-offs. Upload from any browser, share a link, and whoever you're sending to can download immediately without creating an account. If the data is sensitive, you can add a password or restrict access to specific email addresses, so only the right people get in. For teams sharing large exports or ongoing datasets, Ultimate keeps transfers live indefinitely and gives you full visibility into who downloaded what and when.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Free accounts support transfers up to 3 GB, which covers a lot of common data files like CSVs, SQL dumps, compressed archives, and research exports. If your files are bigger than that, upgrading to Ultimate removes the size limit entirely, so there's no ceiling on what you can send.
WeTransfer works with any file type, so you can send ZIP archives, database exports, JSON or XML datasets, spreadsheets, PDFs, and any other format your workflow produces. Nothing gets converted or modified in transit — your files arrive exactly as you uploaded them.
Yes. You can upload an entire folder and WeTransfer preserves the original directory structure when your recipient downloads it. That means referenced files, subfolders, and naming conventions all stay exactly where you put them, which matters a lot when you're handing off a structured dataset or a project archive.
You have a couple of options. You can lock the transfer with a password and share that separately from the download link. You can also restrict access to one or more specific email addresses, so only those people can open the files. Both options are available on all plans, including the free tier.
On a free account, transfers expire after a maximum of 3 days. If you're sharing large datasets that a colleague or client might need to access more than once, or over a longer period, upgrading to Ultimate lets you set a custom expiry or keep the transfer live indefinitely. Ultimate users can also recover transfers that have already expired, even ones sent before upgrading.
