Recipients can preview supported spreadsheet formats, including XLSX and ODS files, directly in the browser and leave comments on individual files without pulling anything to a local device first. Yes. Before sending, you can enable the Restricted access option and list the email addresses that should have access. Anyone who opens the link will need to verify their email, and only addresses on your list will be granted access. You can also add a password on top of that for a second layer of protection.
If you enable download tracking before sending, WeTransfer records who downloaded the transfer and when, with timestamps available in the transfer's activity log. For teams on Enterprise, the Activity Log also gives workspace admins a broader security record across all team transfers, exportable to CSV or streamable into a SIEM.
WeTransfer never re-encodes or alters your files. Spreadsheets are transferred exactly as uploaded, with no data loss or formatting changes. Free accounts can send up to 3 GB per transfer, which comfortably covers even large data exports. On Ultimate and above, there is no per-transfer size cap.
On Teams and Enterprise plans, every member works from a shared workspace with linked accounts and centralised billing. Admins can see and manage all transfers sent across the team, so nothing slips through untracked. Teams also adds shared branding and shared storage, while Enterprise layers in SSO, advanced access management, and custom transfer rules for organisations with tighter governance requirements.
WeTransfer is ISO 27001 certified, fully GDPR-compliant, and stores files on AWS servers in Ireland. All transfers are encrypted with TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest. Data Processing Agreements are available on business plans, and WeTransfer never uses your file contents to train AI models or shares them with third parties.
