Law firms handle contracts, case files, and client records that demand more than a shared drive link. WeTransfer gives every PDF transfer a secure path from sender to recipient, with access controls that let you decide exactly who can open what and a full audit trail when you need to demonstrate due diligence.
A secure space for your team
Legal professionals need file sharing that holds up to the same standards as the documents themselves. WeTransfer encrypts every file in transit with TLS and at rest with AES-256, stores data on EU servers in Ireland, is ISO 27001 certified, and is fully GDPR-compliant, with Data Processing Agreements available on business plans. Recipients can open and review PDFs directly in the browser without downloading, so a counterparty or colleague can read through a draft contract, leave comments on specific files, and mark what needs attention before a single file touches their device. You can lock any transfer behind a password, restrict it to a named list of verified email addresses, and log every download with a timestamp, giving your firm a documented record of exactly who accessed which documents and when. Organizations that need centralized administration can bring the whole firm onto a shared workspace with unified billing, while larger practices can add SSO, custom transfer rules, usage logs, and advanced access management for the governance their compliance teams require.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Yes. Recipients can open PDF files directly in the WeTransfer browser preview before choosing to download. For law firms, this means a client can review a contract or disclosure document in full without saving a copy to their device, and they can leave inline comments or mark files for follow-up without any software installed.
When creating a transfer you can enable restricted access, which locks the download to a list of verified email addresses you specify. Anyone who opens the link but is not on your list is turned away, and you receive a notification for each successful download. You can update the access list after sending from your Transfers panel, and changes take effect immediately.
Download tracking is available on all plans and, when enabled, logs the name, email address, and timestamp for every download. For email transfers, a per-recipient record is visible directly in your Transfers panel. Law firms and audit professionals can use this timestamped log to demonstrate that documents reached the right parties and were accessed as intended.
WeTransfer is ISO 27001 certified, fully GDPR-compliant, and stores files on AWS servers in Ireland. All transfers are encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest with AES-256, and the infrastructure is backed by WAF and DDoS protection with automated malware scanning on every upload. Data Processing Agreements are available on business plans for firms that need them for their own compliance obligations.
A Teams plan gives every fee earner their own account linked to a shared workspace, with centralized billing, shared storage up to 5 TB, and admin visibility over all transfers sent across the team. For larger firms with stricter governance requirements, an Enterprise plan adds SSO, SCIM provisioning, custom transfer rules, usage logs with SIEM integration, advanced access management, and unlimited members, all underpinned by the same EU-based infrastructure and GDPR compliance.
