Yes. Recipients can open previews of JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, HEIC, PSD, and most RAW formats including ARW, NEF, CR2, DNG, and others directly in their browser, with no download required. The preview renders at a slightly lower resolution than the original, so the full-quality file is only transferred when someone deliberately downloads it. Viewers can also favorite individual photos and leave comments on specific files, which makes review rounds inside a team much faster.
When setting up a transfer, you can restrict access so that only specific email addresses on your list can open it. Anyone who tries to access the link is asked to verify their email, and if their address isn't on your list they're blocked. You can also add a password as an additional layer, which recipients need before they can view or download anything. Both options are available on all plans and can be adjusted after sending from the transfer details page.
No. WeTransfer sends your photos in their original quality with no re-encoding, no resolution changes, and no color profile alterations. When you upload multiple files they're packaged into a zip using lossless compression for the download, but the files themselves are untouched. What you send is exactly what the recipient gets.
Yes. You can enable download tracking before or after sending a transfer. For email transfers, a checkmark appears next to each recipient's address once they download, and hovering shows the exact date and time. If you use the Restricted access option, you get a detailed notification each time someone on your access list downloads, including their email address and a timestamp. A Teams plan gives every member their own linked account under a shared workspace, with centralized billing, shared storage, and admin visibility over all transfers the team sends. Admins can see and manage every transfer, while members see only their own.
