Engineering work lives in PDFs: technical drawings, specifications, compliance reports, and contractor briefs that should never end up in the wrong hands. WeTransfer gives your team a direct, encrypted path for every file, with granular access controls and workspace-level oversight so sensitive documents stay in control from the moment you hit send.
A secure space for your team
Engineering teams regularly exchange PDFs containing proprietary designs, regulatory submissions, and vendor contracts that carry real risk if they reach the wrong recipient. WeTransfer protects every transfer with TLS encryption in transit and AES-256 encryption at rest, holds files on EU-based servers in Ireland, and is ISO 27001 certified and fully GDPR-compliant, with Data Processing Agreements available on business plans. You can require a password before anyone opens a drawing package, restrict downloads to a verified list of named email addresses, and enable download tracking to keep a timestamped record of exactly who accessed which document. Recipients can review PDFs directly in the browser, leave comments on individual files, and flag what needs follow-up without pulling anything to their local machine first. Organizations with stricter governance needs can move their whole team onto a shared workspace with centralized billing and admin visibility, while larger engineering firms can add SSO, custom transfer rules, usage logs, and advanced access management at the Enterprise level.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Yes. WeTransfer never re-encodes or compresses your files, so a multi-file PDF package arrives at the recipient's end exactly as you uploaded it, with no resolution loss or altered metadata. Recipients can also preview individual PDFs in the browser before downloading, which means a contractor or site engineer can check a specific drawing without pulling the entire package to their device.
When sending a transfer, you can enable Restricted downloads, which requires anyone who opens your link to verify their email address against a list you specify. Only people on that list can access the files. You can also lock any transfer behind a password and share that separately, adding a second layer before anyone reaches the document.
Yes. You can enable download tracking on any transfer, which captures who downloaded and the exact date and time for each access. For email transfers, a checkmark appears per recipient once they download. This gives project managers and compliance leads a clear, timestamped record of document access that can support internal audits or client reporting.
On Free and Starter plans, transfers expire after a maximum of three days. On Ultimate and above, you can set any custom expiry duration or keep transfers active indefinitely, which is more practical for engineering projects with longer review cycles. Ultimate users can also recover expired transfers retroactively, so a supplier missing a deadline does not mean the files are gone permanently.
A Teams workspace gives every member their own account linked to a central workspace, with admins able to view and manage all transfers from one place, shared storage, and centralized billing. For larger firms or those with IT governance requirements, an Enterprise plan adds SSO, SCIM provisioning, custom transfer rules, usage logs, and advanced access management, giving IT and project leads the controls they need across the full organization.
