WeTransfer sends any file type without altering or compressing it, so CAD files, 3D models, DWG and DXF drawings, simulation outputs, ZIP archives, PDFs, and Office documents all arrive exactly as you sent them. Files are transferred at original quality with no re-encoding or resolution loss, which matters when precision data is involved. Folder uploads are also supported, so you can send an entire project directory and recipients will receive the original folder structure intact.
You have two layers of access control available on all plans. You can lock any transfer behind a password and share that password separately, so only recipients who have it can open the files. For stricter control, you can restrict access to a named list of specific email addresses, meaning anyone who opens the link must verify their email and match your list before downloading. Both options can be set before sending or adjusted from your transfer management panel after the fact.
WeTransfer is ISO 27001 certified, fully GDPR-compliant, and stores files on EU-based AWS servers in Ireland with TLS encryption in transit and AES-256 encryption at rest. The infrastructure runs on AWS with WAF and DDoS protection, and every upload is automatically scanned for malware. Data Processing Agreements are available for business plans, which is useful when your organization has contractual or regulatory obligations around how third-party processors handle project data.

The Teams plan supports up to 50 members, each with their own linked account, shared storage, and centralized billing under one workspace. For engineering organizations with larger headcounts or more complex structures, the Enterprise plan removes the seat cap entirely and adds custom storage limits, SSO, SCIM user provisioning, and dedicated support.
