Yes. When setting up a transfer, you can enable Restricted downloads, which means anyone who opens the link must verify their email address and will only get access if they appear on your list. You can add or remove email addresses from that list at any time after sending, and changes take effect immediately. This works on all plans, including free.
Recipients can open PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, and presentations directly in the browser without downloading anything first. This is useful when you want someone to confirm they have the correct document before saving a local copy. Previews are supported on web, iOS, and Android, and no WeTransfer account is needed to view them.
Every sent transfer in your account shows a download status, and email transfers include a per-recipient checkmark with the exact date and time of download. If you enable Tracked downloads, anyone who accesses the transfer via the link must verify their email address first, giving you a detailed activity log of who downloaded and when. This works across all plans.
WeTransfer is a Dutch company, fully GDPR-compliant, and stores files on EU servers in Ireland.
