Every file travels over TLS encryption and is stored at rest with AES-256 on AWS servers in Ireland. WeTransfer is ISO 27001 certified and fully GDPR-compliant. Beyond encryption, you can restrict any transfer to a specific list of verified email addresses, require a password before anyone can download, and enable download tracking to see exactly who accessed the files and when. Data Processing Agreements are available on business plans for organizations with formal compliance requirements.
For any individual transfer, you can choose between three layers of control: password protection (recipients need the password to open the link), restricted access (only email addresses you specify can download, after verifying their identity), or tracked downloads (anyone with the link can access after email verification, and you receive a detailed notification each time). These options are available on all plans and can be combined with each other.
A shared workspace under the Teams plan brings up to 50 members together with 5 TB of pooled storage, shared branding, centralized billing, and an admin layer that gives visibility over all transfers sent and received across the organization. Admins can invite or remove members, assign roles, and review team transfer activity, while each member operates from their own account. Enterprise extends this further with unlimited members, SSO, SCIM provisioning, custom storage limits, usage logs, and advanced access management.
Yes. On a Teams or Enterprise workspace, admins have full visibility over all sent and received transfers across the organization, including those that arrived through the team's branded page. Members can see only their own transfers. On Enterprise, the Activity Log gives a chronological record of security-relevant events, including who performed each action, from which IP address, and when, and this data can be streamed into a SIEM.
Removing a member from the workspace frees up their seat, but admins retain visibility over that member's previously sent transfers within the shared workspace transfer panel. Active transfers that are still within their expiry window remain accessible to recipients via their download links. Admins can delete any transfer at any time, which immediately revokes the download link for all recipients.
