Get paid for your work

Researchers, analysts, and data professionals who sell datasets, reports, or processed data files often struggle to collect payment before handing over their work. Paid transfers solve that by folding the checkout directly into the download flow — your files are unreachable until the buyer completes payment through Stripe. Data files are delivered exactly as you prepared them, whether that means CSV exports, Excel workbooks, ZIP archives of raw datasets, or structured PDFs, with no compression and no alteration of any kind. Buyers can also preview supported file types in the browser before committing, which builds confidence and reduces back-and-forth before purchase. Paid transfers are available on all WeTransfer plans and run from a desktop browser, with no platform fee deducted by WeTransfer.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

When creating a transfer on desktop, you will find a payment option in the transfer settings panel. Enter your price, connect your Stripe account if you have not already, and send or share the link as normal. The download stays locked until the buyer completes checkout through Stripe, at which point the files unlock automatically.

No. WeTransfer charges no platform fee on paid transfers. Whatever price you set is the amount that goes to you, minus any standard Stripe processing fees that Stripe applies directly. You keep the full value of your work.

You can sell virtually any file type, including CSV files, Excel spreadsheets, JSON or XML exports, PDF reports, database dumps, ZIP archives of raw or processed datasets, and CAD or design files. Files are delivered exactly as you uploaded them, with no compression, no re-encoding, and no changes to the original structure.

Buyers can preview supported file types, including PDFs and certain document formats, directly in the browser before completing payment. For file types that do not support in-browser preview, buyers rely on your transfer description and any supporting context you include when setting up the paid transfer.

No account is required to buy or download a paid transfer. Recipients click your link, complete the Stripe checkout, and access the files immediately, with no sign-up step in the way. This keeps the purchase experience simple for clients and customers who have never used WeTransfer before.
