Collect audio submissions from any source with one link

Set up an upload request and share the link with interviewees, field reporters, freelancers, or audio contributors. Their recordings land directly in your WeTransfer workspace, and you get an email notification the moment each file arrives. No overflowing inboxes, no cloud folder permissions, no back-and-forth.

Send your first transfer

Request once, receive from anyone

News and media teams are constantly pulling in audio from outside their organization, whether that's recorded interviews, ambient sound, voice memos, commentary clips, or broadcast-quality field recordings from contributors working across time zones. A WeTransfer upload request gives you a dedicated link you can paste into a briefing email, a contributor portal, or a direct message, so every audio file routes straight to your workspace without any coordination overhead. Audio arrives exactly as recorded, with no re-encoding or quality loss, so WAV, MP3, and other formats come through at full fidelity and are ready to drop into your editing workflow. You can preview supported audio files directly in your browser before downloading, making it easy to scan what has come in and confirm the right take arrived before you pull it into production. Both you and the people sending files need a free WeTransfer account, and your first request can be live and ready to share in minutes.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Go to WeTransfer and click Request Files, give your request a title, and optionally add instructions such as preferred audio format, file naming conventions, or recording guidelines. WeTransfer generates a link you can share directly with contributors by email, messaging app, or through your editorial system. When someone uploads, you receive an email notification and the file appears in the Received tab of your account.

No paid account is required. Anyone uploading audio to your request does need a free WeTransfer account, but that takes only a minute to set up. For news and media teams working with a wide pool of external contributors, this keeps the submission process accessible without requiring anyone to subscribe before they can send a file.

No. WeTransfer sends files exactly as uploaded, with no re-encoding, compression, or quality changes. For broadcast and podcast production this matters, since a 48 kHz WAV recorded in the field or a high-bitrate MP3 interview clip will arrive at the same quality it left the contributor's device, ready for editing without any further processing.

Yes. WeTransfer supports in-browser playback for MP3 and WAV files up to 300 MB, so you can listen to a clip and confirm it is the right take before pulling it into your DAW or editing timeline. For a busy newsroom or podcast team handling multiple simultaneous submissions, this saves time by letting you triage files without downloading everything first.

All uploaded files appear in the Received tab of your WeTransfer account, organized chronologically so you can see what has come in and from whom. You can view, download, and organize submissions from there, and if you need tighter access control, you can restrict downloads to specific email addresses or enable tracked downloads to log exactly who has accessed a file. For media teams with multiple people managing intake, a Teams plan lets you share a workspace so colleagues can access and act on incoming audio together.
