Share one upload link with sources, contributors, photographers, or fixers and their files land directly in your WeTransfer workspace. You get an email notification the moment each file arrives, so you can stay focused on the story rather than hunting down assets across email threads and messaging apps.
Request once, receive from anyone
Journalists and media teams constantly need raw footage, press photos, audio recordings, and documents from people who may be anywhere in the world and working on tight deadlines. WeTransfer upload requests give you a single link you can drop into a pitch briefing, a press accreditation email, or a newsroom Slack channel, routing every submission straight to your workspace without asking contributors to navigate complicated file-sharing setups. Video files, RAW photography, broadcast audio, PDFs, and archived documents all arrive exactly as they were created, with no compression or quality loss, so nothing gets degraded before it reaches your edit suite or picture desk. You can preview images, video, audio, and PDF files directly in your browser before downloading, which makes quickly assessing whether the right footage has arrived much easier when you are working against a publication deadline. Both you and the people uploading need a free WeTransfer account, and a new request takes only moments to create and share.

All your questions answered.
Go to the WeTransfer homepage, click Request Files, give your request a title, and optionally add instructions covering things like preferred file formats, naming conventions, or deadline. WeTransfer generates a shareable link you can send via email, drop into a press briefing, or post in a contributor group chat. When someone uploads through that link, you receive an email notification and the files appear in the Received tab of your account.
No paid plan is required on either side. The person uploading needs a free WeTransfer account, and creating the request also requires a free account. That keeps the barrier low for contributors in the field, fixers working across different regions, and sources who may not be technically savvy.
Virtually any file type works, including RAW and high-resolution photography, 4K video footage, broadcast-quality audio, PDF documents, ZIP archives, and design files. Files arrive in their original quality with no compression or re-encoding, so broadcast footage and press images come through at full fidelity and are ready to use the moment they land.
Yes. When creating a request you can add a written set of instructions, covering things like required formats, resolution minimums, file naming, or editorial deadlines. Those instructions are visible to anyone who opens your upload link, which reduces back-and-forth and helps contributors get it right on the first upload.
Any number of contributors can upload to the same link, making it practical for open press calls, wire contributions, or multi-source investigations. File requests stay active indefinitely until you manually close or delete them, so you can use one link across an entire assignment or keep it open for ongoing contributions. If you want to stop accepting new uploads, you can close the request from your Transfers panel at any time.
