Set up an upload request and share the link with patients, clinicians, or imaging centers. Image files land directly in your WeTransfer workspace, and you get an email notification as soon as each one arrives. No attachment-filled inboxes, no shared drive access to configure, no follow-up requests.
Request once, receive from anyone
Healthcare workflows often depend on gathering images from multiple sources quickly, whether that's wound photos from patients, scanned referral documents, diagnostic images from partner clinics, or clinical photography submitted by staff across different sites. WeTransfer upload requests give you a dedicated link you can include in a patient communication, a referral pathway email, or an internal staff message, so every image routes straight to your workspace without requiring any technical setup from the sender. Images arrive exactly as uploaded, with no compression or quality loss, so high-resolution clinical photographs, scanned records, and JPEG or PNG files come through at their original fidelity and are ready to use. You can preview supported image formats directly in your browser before downloading, making it straightforward to confirm the right files have arrived before you take any further action. Anyone uploading to your request needs a free WeTransfer account, and your first request can be live and ready to share in a matter of minutes.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Log in to your WeTransfer account, click Request Files on the homepage, give your request a title such as "Patient Images" or "Referral Photos", and optionally add instructions specifying file formats, naming conventions, or the type of images needed. WeTransfer generates a unique upload link you can paste into a patient portal message, an appointment confirmation, or a staff briefing email. Anyone who opens the link can upload images directly to your workspace, and you receive an email notification each time a file arrives.
No paid plan is required. Anyone uploading images through your request link needs a free WeTransfer account, but that is all. Recipients do not need to download anything or navigate any complex setup, which makes the process accessible for patients or partner clinics with limited technical resources. You, as the person creating the request, also need at least a free account.
No. WeTransfer sends files in their original quality with no re-encoding, no resolution reduction, and no compression that affects image fidelity. For healthcare use, this matters: high-resolution wound photographs, scanned referral forms, and diagnostic images arrive exactly as the sender uploaded them, which means no detail is lost between the source and your workspace.
WeTransfer supports any file type, so senders can upload JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC, and RAW formats, as well as PDFs for scanned documents or forms that accompany the images. JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, HEIC, and a range of RAW formats including DNG, NEF, and CR2 can also be previewed directly in your browser before you download, letting you confirm the right images have arrived quickly.
Images submitted through your upload request land in the Received section of your WeTransfer account, where only you can access them by default. WeTransfer encrypts all files in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256, and stores data on AWS servers in Ireland under ISO 27001 certification. WeTransfer is GDPR-compliant and based in the EU, and Data Processing Agreements are available for business plan customers if your team has compliance requirements around handling patient or clinical data.
