Go to the WeTransfer homepage, click Request Files, give your request a title such as "Patient Intake Documents" or "Referral Records," add any instructions you want senders to follow, and copy the generated link. You can then share that link however works best for your practice, by email, in a patient portal message, or on a printed instruction sheet. You will receive an email notification each time someone uploads a document, and all submitted files appear in the Received tab of your account.
Anyone sending documents to your upload request needs a free WeTransfer account, but they do not need a paid plan. There is nothing to install and no complex setup required on their end, which keeps the process straightforward for patients and external parties who may not be familiar with file-sharing tools. You, as the person creating the request, also need at minimum a free WeTransfer account.

Submitted documents appear in the Received tab of your WeTransfer account, where you can review, preview, and download them. All files are encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256, and WeTransfer stores data on EU servers with ISO 27001 certification, which supports compliance-conscious workflows. WeTransfer does not view, sell, or share your files, and your content is never used to train AI models. For teams that need shared access to incoming documents, a Teams plan gives multiple colleagues a shared workspace with centralised management.
