Gather files from anyone, no IT headaches

Government agencies and NGOs deal with a constant flow of incoming documents, reports, and media from staff, partners, and the public. WeTransfer upload requests give you a single link to share with anyone — every file they send lands directly in your workspace, and you get an email notification the moment something arrives. No shared drive permissions to configure, no email attachments to chase down.

Request once, receive from anyone

Public sector teams and NGOs often need to collect sensitive documents, field reports, grant applications, evidence files, or media assets from contributors who have no access to your internal systems. WeTransfer upload requests solve that by giving you a dedicated link you can include in a community outreach email, a partner briefing, a public submission form, or a grant portal — and every file goes straight to your workspace the moment it is uploaded. PDFs, spreadsheets, scanned records, images, video footage, and ZIP archives all arrive exactly as they were created, with no compression or quality loss, so nothing is altered before it reaches your review process. You can preview supported file formats directly in your browser to confirm the right documents have come through before pulling anything into your workflow. Both you and anyone uploading to your request need a free WeTransfer account, and creating a request takes only a few seconds.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Log in to your WeTransfer account, click Request Files on the homepage, give your request a title, and optionally add instructions such as accepted file formats, naming conventions, or a submission deadline. WeTransfer generates a shareable link you can distribute via email, a public-facing web page, a community notice, or a partner briefing. Every file submitted through that link lands in the Received tab of your account, and you get an email notification each time something arrives.

Anyone uploading files to your request needs a free WeTransfer account — there is no cost involved for them, and no need for a paid plan. They simply open your link, add their files, and send. Your organisation only needs a free account to create the request, so neither side faces any software purchase or IT procurement process.

WeTransfer accepts any file type, so contributors can send PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, scanned records, images, video footage, audio files, 3D or CAD files, ZIP archives, and more. Files arrive exactly as they were created, with no compression or quality loss, which matters when collecting signed forms, high-resolution evidence images, or official documents that need to remain unaltered.

Yes. When creating a request, you can add a title and a free-text instructions field where you can specify file formats, naming conventions, required document types, or any relevant deadline. Those instructions are visible to anyone who opens your upload link, which reduces incomplete or incorrectly formatted submissions from staff in the field, partner organisations, or members of the public.

From the Transfers panel, switch to your file requests view to see all active requests. You can close a request at any time to stop accepting new uploads — anyone who visits the link after closing will see a message that the request is no longer available. All files that were already submitted remain in your Received tab, where you can review, preview supported formats in the browser, and download everything you need.
