Gather student video submissions with one link

Create an upload request and share the link with students, teaching assistants, or guest lecturers. Request once, receive from anyone

Collecting video submissions in education means juggling presentation recordings, practical demonstrations, field documentation, and project footage from dozens of contributors at once. WeTransfer upload requests give you a single link to share anywhere, from your LMS to a class email, so students and contributors send their videos straight to you without any back-and-forth. Every video arrives in its original quality, with no re-encoding or resolution loss, so lecture captures, 4K project films, and screen recordings come through exactly as they were made. You can preview supported video files right in your browser before downloading, making it easy to check what has arrived without pulling every submission to your device first. Both you and the people submitting videos need a free WeTransfer account, and your first request is ready to share within minutes.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Log into your WeTransfer account, click Request Files on the homepage, give your request a title such as the assignment name or course code, and optionally add instructions for your students, like preferred formats, naming conventions, or submission deadlines. WeTransfer generates a link you can post into your LMS, paste into an email, or share in a virtual classroom. When a student uploads their video, you receive an email notification straight away.

Students need a free WeTransfer account to upload files to your request, but they do not need a paid plan. Creating a free account takes a couple of minutes. You, as the person creating the request, also need at least a free account. There is no software to install for either party, and the entire process runs in a browser.

WeTransfer accepts any file type, so students can submit MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and any other video format without needing to convert or compress their work first. Files are transferred exactly as uploaded, with no re-encoding or quality loss, which matters when you are collecting high-resolution project films, screen recordings, or raw footage from fieldwork. You can preview MP4 and MOV files up to 300 MB directly in your browser before downloading.

Yes. A single upload request link can be used by as many students or contributors as you need, making it practical for whole cohorts, multiple tutorial groups, or cross-institutional projects. Each submission appears in your Received tab with the sender's details, so you can see who has submitted and review each video individually. You can also add clear instructions to the request so every student knows exactly what to send.

Submitted videos appear in the Received section of your WeTransfer account. You can preview supported video files, including MP4 and MOV, directly in your browser without downloading anything first, which is useful for an initial review of a large intake of submissions. Reviewers can also leave comments on individual files within the preview, so you can give timestamped feedback or notes before deciding which videos to download to your device for grading or editing.
