Collect documents from students and staff with one link

Set up an upload request and share the link with students, faculty, or external contributors. They send their documents straight to your WeTransfer workspace, and you get an email notification each time a file arrives. No shared drives, no email attachments, no chasing submissions.

Request once, receive from anyone

Educators and administrators spend valuable time hunting down submitted documents, whether that's assignments, consent forms, research papers, or course materials from guest contributors. WeTransfer upload requests give you a dedicated link you can paste into a learning management system, an email to your class, or a departmental newsletter, so everyone sends their documents directly to you. Files arrive exactly as uploaded, with no compression or alterations, so PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, and presentations come through intact and ready to open. You can preview supported document types right in your browser before downloading, making it straightforward to review incoming submissions without pulling every file to your computer first. Both you and anyone submitting documents to you need a free WeTransfer account, and your first request is ready to share in minutes.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Go to the WeTransfer homepage, click Request Files, give your request a title (such as the assignment name or course), and optionally add instructions like accepted file formats or submission deadlines. WeTransfer generates a shareable link you can post in your LMS, email to students, or add to a course page. When a student uploads their document, you receive an email notification and the file appears in the Received tab of your account. Both you and the student need a free WeTransfer account to create and upload to a request.

WeTransfer accepts any file type, so students can submit PDFs, Word documents (DOC and DOCX), PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, RTF files, and plain text documents, among others. Files arrive exactly as the sender uploaded them, with no compression or quality changes. Supported formats like PDFs, DOCX, and common Office files can also be previewed directly in the browser, so you can review a submission without downloading it first.

Yes. A single upload request link can be used by as many people as you like, making it practical for distributing to a whole class, a department, or multiple cohorts at once. Each person who submits documents through the link triggers a separate email notification to you, and all uploaded files appear in your Received tab organized by submission. There is no limit on how many contributors can use the same link.

When creating a request you can add a title and a text instructions field, which is ideal for noting file naming conventions, accepted formats, page limits, or submission deadlines. Anyone opening your upload link will see these details before they upload, reducing the chance of receiving incorrectly formatted documents. If your requirements change, share an updated link with new instructions.

Uploaded documents appear in the Received tab of your WeTransfer account, grouped by the request they came in through. You can preview supported file types such as PDFs and Office documents directly in the browser before deciding what to download, which is useful for a quick first review of a batch of submissions. From your Transfers panel you can also manage active requests, close a request once the submission window has passed, or delete it entirely when it is no longer needed.
