Create an upload request and share the link with students, parents, or colleagues. Assignments, portfolios, and project files land straight in your WeTransfer workspace, and you get an email notification each time something arrives. No shared drive permissions to set up, no email attachments clogging your inbox, no chasing anyone for a resubmission.
Request once, receive from anyone
Gathering work from a classroom, a cohort, or an entire department means coordinating file handoffs from dozens of people at once, each using different devices and varying levels of tech confidence. WeTransfer upload requests solve that by giving you one link you can paste into a learning management system, a group chat, or a course email, so submissions flow into your workspace automatically. Essays, presentations, design files, audio recordings, video projects, and scanned documents all arrive exactly as they were created, with no compression or quality loss, meaning a student's carefully produced video or high-resolution artwork comes through at full fidelity. You can preview supported file types directly in your browser before downloading, which makes reviewing a batch of submissions far quicker than opening each file locally. Both you and the people uploading need a free WeTransfer account, and a new request takes only moments to set up.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Click Request Files on the WeTransfer homepage, give your request a title, optionally add submission instructions such as file naming conventions or accepted formats, and share the generated link. You can drop that link into your LMS, a class email, or a group chat. When a student uploads their work, you receive an email notification and the files appear in the Received tab of your account.
No paid plan is required. Students do need a free WeTransfer account to upload files through your request link, but signing up is quick and costs nothing. Recipients of your request can submit any supported file type, including essays, presentations, video projects, and design files, without any subscription.
Yes. When creating your upload request, you can include a description with guidance such as accepted file formats, naming conventions, or a submission deadline. Those instructions are visible to anyone who opens your request link, which reduces back-and-forth and helps you receive consistently formatted work from the start.
WeTransfer handles a wide range of file types common in education settings, including PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets, images, audio recordings, video projects, ZIP archives, and design files. Files arrive exactly as uploaded with no compression or re-encoding, so a student's video essay or high-resolution portfolio piece comes through at its original quality.
Upload requests stay active until you choose to close or delete them. On Free and Starter plans, the individual transfers students send through your link expire after up to 3 days, while Ultimate and above allow you to set a custom expiry or keep files available indefinitely. You can close a request at any time to stop accepting new submissions, making it easy to manage deadlines across a term or academic year.
