Create an upload request and share the link with subcontractors, surveyors, site managers, or clients. Plans, photos, reports, and drawings land directly in your WeTransfer workspace, and you get an email notification the moment each file arrives. No shared drive permissions to configure, no email threads full of attachments, no chasing anyone down.
Request once, receive from anyone
Construction projects depend on gathering the right documents from the right people at the right time, whether that is as-built drawings from a subcontractor, site progress photos from a foreman, inspection reports from a third-party surveyor, or permit documents from a client. WeTransfer upload requests give you a dedicated link you can drop into a WhatsApp message, a project brief, or an email to a contractor, so every file routes straight to your workspace without requiring the sender to navigate any complicated setup. Files arrive exactly as submitted, with no compression or quality loss, so high-resolution CAD files, large PDF sets, and RAW site photography all come through at their original fidelity and are immediately ready to use. You can preview supported file formats directly in your browser before downloading, which makes it straightforward to confirm the right documents have arrived before passing them along to the project team. Anyone uploading to your request needs a free WeTransfer account, and a new request takes only a moment to set up and share.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Go to the WeTransfer homepage and click Request Files. Give your request a title, add any instructions you want the uploader to see, such as file naming conventions or required formats, and share the generated link. You can send it by text, email, or drop it into a project management tool. When anyone uploads files through your link, they land in your Received tab and you get an email notification straight away.
No. Anyone uploading to your request just needs a free WeTransfer account. There is no paid plan required on their end, which matters in construction where you are often coordinating with small subcontractors, sole traders, or clients who are unlikely to have specialist file-sharing tools. Creating the upload request also only requires a free account on your side.
WeTransfer handles any file type, so subcontractors can upload DWG and DXF drawings, RVT or IFC models, large PDF plan sets, site photos in JPEG or RAW format, ZIP archives of project documents, and Office files like inspection reports or schedules. Files are sent without compression, so every file arrives exactly as it left the sender's machine.
There is no cap on how many people can use your upload request link. You can share a single link with an entire project team, a supplier list, or a client group, and each person can upload independently. Each submission triggers a separate email notification so you always know when new files have arrived and who sent them.
Upload requests do not expire automatically unless you choose to close or delete them, which makes them well suited to long construction programs where document collection happens in phases. On Free and Starter plans, files uploaded through a request expire after 3 days. On Ultimate and above, you can set a custom expiry or keep files available indefinitely. You can close a request at any time from your Transfers panel to stop new uploads, or delete it entirely once the project is complete.
