In telecommunications, technical documentation, network diagrams, and project handoffs move between teams, contractors, and clients constantly. When a transfer expires before everyone has downloaded what they need, WeTransfer Ultimate lets you restore it directly from your Transfers panel, including files you originally sent on a Free or Starter account.
Get your expired files back
Telecom teams regularly share large, complex file packages — RF planning data, site survey reports, configuration exports, and vendor proposals — and an expired link at the wrong moment can stall a project or delay a handoff. WeTransfer Ultimate keeps a recovery path open from your account, so you can restore an expired transfer without contacting the original sender or asking colleagues to reconstruct what they sent. That recovery is retroactive: transfers you sent before upgrading to Ultimate may already be restorable the moment you switch plans. Every file comes back exactly as packaged, preserving folder structure, filenames, and original quality whether the transfer contained CAD drawings, ZIP archives, or multi-part documentation bundles. Free and Starter accounts have no way to recover files once a transfer has expired, making Ultimate the plan that keeps telecom workflows moving even after a link goes dark.

On a WeTransfer Ultimate account, go to your Transfers panel, locate the expired transfer, and select the Recover or Restore option if recovery is available. No need to contact the original sender or ask recipients to resend — the process runs entirely from your own account. Files under 256 MB can be recovered for up to one year after expiry, while files over 256 MB have a 90-day recovery window.
Yes. WeTransfer Ultimate's recovery is retroactive, meaning transfers you sent while on a Free or Starter plan may be restorable after you upgrade. If the transfer falls within the applicable recovery window and the Recoverable option was enabled when it was sent, you can restore it directly from your Transfers panel. This is particularly useful for telecom teams who sent technical packages before they had an Ultimate account.
Any file type you sent via WeTransfer is eligible for recovery — network diagrams, CAD and 3D design files, configuration exports, PDF reports, ZIP archives, large video walkthroughs of site surveys, and multi-folder documentation packages. Files come back exactly as they were packaged, with folder structure, filenames, and original file quality all intact, so nothing needs to be rebuilt or reformatted.
Telecom projects often involve multiple contractors, cross-functional teams, and vendor handoffs spread across different time zones and workstreams. A link sent during one phase of a rollout may still be needed weeks later by a party who wasn't part of the original exchange. Free and Starter transfers expire after three days, which is a short window when coordination across large teams is involved. Ultimate removes that pressure with customizable expiry and a recovery option if a transfer does go dark.
The Recoverable option is enabled by default when you create a new transfer on WeTransfer, so most transfers are already set up for recovery without any extra steps. It is worth confirming the setting is on before sending critical handoffs like infrastructure specs or signed vendor agreements. Ultimate users can also set custom expiry dates or keep transfers active indefinitely, which reduces the chance of needing recovery in the first place.
