Retail moves on tight timelines, and a transfer expiring before your team or supplier has downloaded it can stall a product launch, delay a seasonal campaign, or leave a buyer without the assets they need. WeTransfer Ultimate lets you restore expired transfers from your Transfers panel, and that recovery covers files sent before you ever had an Ultimate account.
Get your expired files back
When a product image pack, lookbook, or purchase order slips out of reach because a transfer link expired, rebuilding or re-requesting those files costs time your retail calendar does not have. WeTransfer Ultimate gives you a direct recovery path from your own account, so you can pull back an expired transfer without contacting the original sender or asking a supplier to dig through their inbox. Upgrading to Ultimate can unlock transfers you previously sent on a Free or Starter account, which means assets you thought were gone may already be restorable. Every file comes back exactly as it was packaged, whether that is a folder of high-resolution product shots, a batch of size guides and spec sheets, or a ZIP of promotional graphics, with nothing altered or re-compressed. Free and Starter accounts have no recovery option once a transfer expires, making Ultimate the only plan that keeps that route open for retail teams.

All your questions answered.
On WeTransfer Ultimate, go to your Transfers panel, find the expired transfer, and select the Recover or Restore option if it is available. The files come back exactly as they were packaged, so your product images, spec sheets, or campaign assets are intact and ready to share again. Free and Starter accounts do not have a recovery option once a transfer has expired.
Yes. WeTransfer Ultimate's recovery is retroactive, meaning transfers you originally sent on a Free or Starter account may already be waiting to restore the moment you upgrade. This applies to expired transfers you sent before you ever had an Ultimate account, so product shoot folders, range presentations, and buyer-facing assets that you assumed were permanently gone could still be recoverable.
Any file type you sent through WeTransfer is eligible for recovery on Ultimate — high-resolution product photography, promotional video footage, CAD or design files for packaging, PDF line sheets, pricing spreadsheets, and multi-folder campaign asset bundles. Files return exactly as they were packaged, with folder structure, file names, and original quality all preserved and nothing re-compressed or altered.
Retail workflows typically involve a wide circle of recipients: buyers, merchandisers, agencies, logistics partners, and freelancers who are often working across different time zones and peak seasons. A supplier may miss the download window during a busy restock period, or a creative agency picks up a brief after the original transfer has already expired. Free and Starter plan links also expire after three days, which is a short window when a retailer is coordinating multiple stakeholders at once.
On WeTransfer Ultimate, the Recoverable option is enabled by default when you create a new transfer, so in most cases you are already covered. To stay consistent, check that the option is on before sending anything time-sensitive like a product launch pack, a campaign brief, or a supplier tender. It is also worth upgrading to Ultimate before expiry deadlines arrive, since recovery on Ultimate is retroactive and can reach back to transfers sent on older Free or Starter accounts.
