Photoshop files represent real creative work — hours of layered compositions, smart objects, and careful adjustments that can't be rebuilt quickly. WeTransfer Ultimate keeps expired transfers in a recoverable state, so you can bring those PSD files back from your Transfers panel without needing to track down the original sender or dig through backups.
Get your expired files back
Realising a transfer link to your Photoshop files has expired is particularly frustrating when those PSDs sit at the centre of an active client project or a production handoff. WeTransfer Ultimate gives you a direct path to recovery, letting you restore expired transfers from your account just as they were originally packaged, layers and all. What makes this especially useful for Photoshop workflows is that recovery works retroactively — PSDs you sent while on a Free or Starter account may already be restorable the moment you switch to Ultimate. Free and Starter accounts permanently lose access to files once a transfer expires, with no recovery option available, so upgrading to Ultimate is the practical step if keeping that access matters to your process. Every file comes back exactly as it was sent, with no reprocessing or modifications to your original PSD data.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Yes. Recovery on Ultimate works retroactively, so PSD transfers you sent while on a Free or Starter plan may already be restorable from your Transfers panel after you upgrade. You do not need to have been on Ultimate when the transfer was originally sent. If the transfer falls within the recovery window, the option to restore it will appear directly in your account.
Go to your Transfers panel, find the expired transfer, and if recovery is available you will see a Recover or Restore option next to it. Clicking that brings the transfer back as it was originally sent — your Photoshop files, filenames, and any folder structure intact. The restored transfer then becomes active again, and you can share the download link with whoever needs it.
On Ultimate, Photoshop files under 256 MB can be recovered for up to one year after expiry. For PSD files larger than 256 MB, the recovery window is up to 90 days after expiry. Once either window closes, the files are permanently deleted and cannot be restored, so it is worth acting as soon as you realise a transfer has expired.
Yes. WeTransfer never re-encodes, compresses, or modifies your files during transfer or recovery. Your PSDs return precisely as they were sent, with all layers, masks, adjustment layers, embedded assets, and metadata fully intact. There is no processing step that would alter the file in any way.
The Recoverable option is enabled by default on new transfers, so most PSDs you send on Ultimate will automatically be eligible for recovery if they expire. It is worth double-checking this setting in your transfer options before sending, particularly for large PSD files or important client deliveries. If the option was turned off when the transfer was created, recovery will not be available for that transfer.
