Recover expired hospitality transfers instantly

In hospitality, the files you share move fast — event proposals, venue contracts, catering specs, guest-facing materials. When a transfer expires before everyone has had a chance to download it, WeTransfer Ultimate lets you restore it directly from your Transfers panel, including transfers you sent before you had an Ultimate account.

Expired transfer links catch hospitality teams at the worst moments: a banquet manager needs the floor plan PDF, a client is waiting on the signed event brief, or a supplier missed the link to the catering tender package. WeTransfer Ultimate gives you a recovery path that works straight from your account, without chasing down the original sender or asking anyone to dig through their inbox. The recovery is retroactive, meaning transfers sent from a Free or Starter account may already be waiting to restore the moment you upgrade. Every file comes back exactly as it was packaged — PDFs, spreadsheets, image folders, and multi-document bundles all return intact with nothing altered. Free and Starter plans offer no recovery option once a transfer has expired, so Ultimate is the only plan that keeps that safety net in place.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Log in to your WeTransfer account, go to the Transfers panel, and find the expired transfer in your Sent list. If the transfer is within the recovery window and you are on an Ultimate, Teams, or Enterprise plan, a Recover or Restore option will appear. Click it and the transfer is restored, making the download link active again. If no recovery option appears, the files are permanently deleted and would need to be re-uploaded.

Yes, recovery on Ultimate is retroactive. Transfers you sent before upgrading may still be recoverable, depending on how long ago they expired. Files under 256 MB can be recovered for up to one year after expiry, and files over 256 MB for up to 90 days. If those windows have not passed, upgrading to Ultimate and checking your Transfers panel is the first step.

Hospitality projects involve many external parties — venues, caterers, AV suppliers, and clients — who may receive a transfer link days after it was sent. Free and Starter accounts expire transfers after three days, which is a short window when coordination spans multiple time zones or busy event schedules. Ultimate removes that hard deadline, letting you set a custom expiry or keep transfers active indefinitely.

Any file type you originally sent can come back through recovery — PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, image folders, ZIP archives, and presentation files all return exactly as they were packaged. Nothing is recompressed or altered. This matters for hospitality teams where floor plan layouts, branded collateral, and signed contract PDFs need to stay bit-for-bit identical to the originals.

When creating a transfer on Ultimate, the Recoverable option is enabled by default on new transfers, so in most cases you are already covered. It is worth confirming that option is on before sending anything time-sensitive, such as a signed contract or a full event brief package. Keeping transfers organized with clear titles in your Transfers panel also makes it much easier to locate and restore the right file quickly when a deadline is pressing.
