Some files need to stay reachable long after you hit send. WeTransfer gives every ZIP transfer its own unique download link, and with Ultimate you decide when, or whether, that link ever closes.
Share files that never expire
Sharing a ZIP archive often means bundling work that people will come back to repeatedly, a project handoff, a software package, a collection of assets meant to outlast the original conversation. WeTransfer sends your ZIP files exactly as you packed them, with no recompression or alteration, so recipients get every file inside in its original state. Each transfer gets a unique link that anyone can open in a browser without signing up, making it straightforward to distribute to clients, collaborators, or entire teams in one go. You can lock any transfer with a password, or limit access to a named list of email addresses, so the right people can always get in and the wrong ones cannot. For work that needs to stay available long term, from reference libraries to software releases to bundled client deliverables, WeTransfer gives you the tools to share once and stay accessible.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Yes, with an Ultimate plan or above you can set any transfer to never expire, meaning your ZIP link remains accessible until you choose to delete it. Free and Starter plan transfers are capped at a 3-day expiry, so they are better suited to short-term sends. If you need a link that holds up over months or years, for a software archive, a client asset bundle, or an evergreen resource, Ultimate is the plan built for that.
No. WeTransfer sends your ZIP file exactly as it is, without recompressing, unpacking, or modifying the contents in any way. The archive your recipient downloads is byte-for-byte the same as what you uploaded, so every file inside arrives intact. WeTransfer may package multiple separate files into a ZIP for download convenience, but when you upload a ZIP directly, it passes through untouched.
Link transfers have no recipient limit, so you can share the same download link with as many people as you like without any cap. Anyone with the link can open it in a browser and download, with no account required on their end. If you need tighter control, you can restrict access to a specific list of email addresses, ensuring only named recipients can reach the files.
Yes. Download tracking is available on all plans and lets you see when your transfer has been downloaded. For link transfers you receive a confirmation when the transfer is fully downloaded for the first time. If you want more detailed visibility, enabling tracked downloads requires recipients to verify their email before accessing the file, and you can then see exactly who downloaded and when from your transfer details.
On Free and Starter plans, expired transfers are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. On Ultimate and above, the Recoverable option is enabled by default on new transfers, letting you restore an expired transfer from your Sent panel within the recovery window. For ZIP files under 256 MB the recovery window is up to one year after expiry; for files over 256 MB it is up to 90 days. Setting transfers to never expire in the first place removes this risk entirely for Ultimate users.
