Yes, on WeTransfer Ultimate you can remove the expiry date from any transfer entirely, so the link stays active until you choose to delete it. Free accounts have a fixed maximum of 3 days before a transfer is removed, which is not practical for videos you want recipients to access long-term. If you upgrade to Ultimate, any new transfers you create can be set to never expire, and you can update the expiry on existing active transfers from your Transfers panel.
No. WeTransfer does not re-encode, compress, or alter your video files in any way. A 4K file, a ProRes export, or any other format you upload is delivered to the recipient byte-for-byte as you sent it. The only time files are packaged together is when multiple files are bundled into a zip for download, and even then the contents are not altered.
Yes. Recipients can watch MP4 and MOV files up to 300 MB directly in the browser without downloading anything first. The in-browser preview plays at a slightly lower resolution than the original, which lets viewers confirm they have the right file before committing to a larger download. They can also leave comments on individual files in the preview, which is useful for feedback rounds on video projects.
WeTransfer gives you two access control options on all plans. You can lock a transfer with a password, which you share with recipients outside of WeTransfer, so only people who have it can download. Alternatively, you can restrict access to a specific list of email addresses, meaning anyone who opens the link must verify their email address and will only get in if they are on your list. Both options can be set before sending or adjusted after from your Transfers panel.
Link transfers on WeTransfer have no recipient cap, so you can share the same link with as many people as you like. Email transfers have a recipient limit based on your plan: up to 10 addresses on a free account and up to 50 on paid plans. For wide distribution, such as sharing a video with a large client team or community, a link transfer is the simpler choice.
