Some files need to outlast a single handoff. Whether you're distributing a financial model, a shared data template, or a reference workbook, WeTransfer gives every spreadsheet its own download link and lets you decide exactly how long that link remains active.
Share files that never expire
Spreadsheets often serve as living references, pulled up weeks or months after the original send by a colleague checking a formula or a client revisiting a budget. WeTransfer handles Excel workbooks, CSV files, and other spreadsheet formats without touching a single cell, delivering every file in its original state with no compression or modification. Each transfer gets a unique download link that anyone can open in a browser without needing a WeTransfer account, so there's nothing standing between your recipient and the file. You can add a password to sensitive workbooks or restrict access to a named list of email addresses, keeping financial data and proprietary models away from unintended viewers. Download tracking lets you see exactly who accessed the link and when, giving you a clear record for anything that requires accountability.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Yes, with an Ultimate plan or above you can remove the expiry date entirely from any transfer, so your spreadsheet link stays accessible until you choose to delete it. This is useful for budget templates, data references, or any workbook that people need to return to over time. Free and Starter transfers expire after up to 3 days, while Ultimate gives you full control over the timeline.
No. WeTransfer sends files exactly as you uploaded them, with no compression, reformatting, or modification of any kind. Your Excel formulas, pivot tables, conditional formatting, and embedded data arrive intact on the other end. The only thing that changes is where the file lives, not what's inside it.
WeTransfer supports any file type, so you can share XLS, XLSX, CSV, ODS, and other spreadsheet formats without any special handling. You can also include related files in the same transfer, such as a PDF summary or a ZIP archive containing multiple workbooks, and recipients can download everything in one go.
You can add a password to any transfer before or after sending, so only people who know it can access the file. For tighter control, restricted access lets you specify a list of email addresses, and anyone outside that list is blocked even if they have the link. Both options are available across all plans.
On Ultimate, Teams, and Enterprise plans, expired transfers can be recovered within defined windows after expiry, provided the Recoverable option was enabled when the transfer was created. Free and Starter users cannot recover expired transfers, so the sender would need to re-upload the file. The Recoverable option is turned on by default when creating new transfers on eligible plans.
