Yes, with an Ultimate plan you can set your transfer to never expire, so recipients can return to your presentation link weeks, months, or years after you first sent it. Free and Starter transfers are available for up to 3 days, which is fine for a quick handoff but less practical for decks you expect people to revisit. On Ultimate you can also update the expiry date of an active transfer at any time from your Transfers panel.
No, WeTransfer sends files in their original state with no re-encoding, compression, or formatting changes. A PowerPoint or Keynote file arrives with all its transitions, embedded fonts, speaker notes, and images fully intact, exactly as it left your machine. When multiple files are bundled into a zip, the packaging process is lossless and does not alter any individual file.
Recipients can preview PDFs, images, and a range of other formats directly in their browser without downloading anything first, which is handy if you want them to confirm they have the right deck before pulling it down. For native PowerPoint or Keynote files, WeTransfer does not currently render slide-by-slide previews, but you can always include a PDF export alongside your original file so clients get a quick look without needing the authoring app.
You can add a password to any transfer before or after sending, and only people who know that password can open the link. For tighter control, the restricted access option lets you specify a list of email addresses, and anyone who tries to open the link must verify they are on that list. Both options are available on all plans, including Free, so you can protect sensitive pitch decks from the moment you start using WeTransfer.
On Ultimate, Teams, and Enterprise plans, expired transfers can be recovered even if they expired before you upgraded, so a deck that went dark before a client had a chance to open it is not necessarily lost. Recovery is available for up to one year for files under 256 MB and up to 90 days for larger files, as long as the Recoverable option was enabled when the transfer was created (it is on by default for new transfers). Free and Starter users cannot recover expired transfers, so the files are permanently deleted once the link expires.
