Yes. On WeTransfer Ultimate, you can remove the expiry date from any transfer, including PDFs, so the download link stays live indefinitely. Free and Starter transfers expire after a maximum of 3 days, while Ultimate gives you full control: set a specific end date or choose no expiry at all. The link remains active until you delete the transfer yourself.
Yes. WeTransfer lets recipients open a PDF directly in the browser without downloading it first. This is useful when you are distributing press kits, lookbooks, or multi-page documents and want people to confirm they have the right file before saving it locally. No WeTransfer account is needed to preview or download.
You have a couple of options. You can add a password to any transfer before or after sending, so only recipients who know the password can open the download page. Alternatively, you can use restricted access to limit downloads to a specific list of email addresses, meaning anyone not on that list is blocked even if they have the link. Both options are available on all plans.
WeTransfer does not alter, compress, or re-encode your files during upload or storage. The PDF a recipient downloads is a byte-for-byte copy of what you uploaded, with all fonts, formatting, and embedded images intact. This matters for documents like pitch decks, brand guidelines, or print-ready artwork where visual fidelity is critical.
If your subscription ends, active transfers remain online for a 28-day grace period. After that, transfers on the Free plan are subject to the 3-day expiry rules, so any links you set to never expire would no longer stay permanently open. Another benefit of Ultimate is that expired transfers can be recovered, even ones that expired before you upgraded, so a lapsed link is not always the end of the road.
