Type foundries, graphic designers, and studios often need font files to stay reachable long after the initial send, whether you're supplying a client with a licensed family, handing off brand assets to a print shop, or keeping a typeface reference permanently available. WeTransfer gives every transfer its own download link and lets you decide whether that link ever closes.
Share files that never expire
Sharing fonts is rarely a one-time event: a brand guideline referencing a typeface, a printer needing the exact OTF files used in production, or a client revisiting licensed assets months down the line all depend on a link still being live when they need it. WeTransfer sends every file exactly as it left your system, so TTF, OTF, WOFF, WOFF2, and any other font format arrives with nothing altered, repackaged, or re-encoded. Each transfer gets a unique download link that recipients can open in any browser without creating an account, keeping the handoff frictionless whether you're sending to a freelancer, a print vendor, or a client's in-house team. When font licenses or studio agreements call for tighter distribution, password protection and email-based access restrictions let you keep files within an approved list of recipients, while download tracking confirms exactly who retrieved each file and when. For designers and studios sharing brand assets across a whole organization, WeTransfer scales to cover multiple senders under shared branding and centralized billing.

All your questions answered.
Yes. On WeTransfer Ultimate and above, you can remove the expiry date from any transfer entirely, keeping the download link live until you choose to delete it. That means a client, print shop, or brand team can return to the same link weeks or months later and still pull the exact files you uploaded. Free accounts cap expiry at 3 days, so a permanent link requires an Ultimate, Teams, or Enterprise plan.
No. WeTransfer stores and delivers files exactly as they were uploaded, with no modification, re-encoding, or quality processing of any kind. OTF, TTF, WOFF, WOFF2, and other font formats land on the recipient's device bit-for-bit identical to what you sent, which matters when font hinting, metadata, or licensing details embedded in the file need to stay intact.
Two options give you that control. Password protection lets you lock any transfer behind a password that you share only with approved recipients — anyone without it cannot access the files. Restricted access goes further: you specify a list of email addresses, and only those verified addresses can open the download link. Both options are available on all plans and can be set or changed after sending from your Transfers panel.
Yes. Download tracking shows you who downloaded a transfer and the exact date and time, but it must be explicitly enabled when you send. For email transfers, your Transfers panel shows a checkmark next to each recipient's address once they download. Restricted access goes further by sending a detailed notification each time a verified recipient opens the link, so you have a clear record for any licensing audit or project handoff.
On Free and Starter plans, expired transfers are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. On Ultimate, Teams, and Enterprise plans, expired transfers can be recovered, and this applies even retroactively to transfers that expired before you upgraded. Recovery windows depend on file size: transfers under 256 MB can be recovered for up to one year after expiry, and transfers over 256 MB for up to 90 days. The simplest fix for font distribution is to set transfers with no expiry from the start.
