Share folders that stay open for as long as you need

Some folders need to be there whenever someone comes back for them, not just for a few days after you hit send. WeTransfer preserves your folder structure exactly as it is and gives you a permanent link you control.

Share files that never expire

When you share a folder of assets, brand files, or reference materials, the people on the receiving end rarely download everything in one sitting. WeTransfer uploads entire folders intact, keeping every file in its original structure so recipients can navigate and download exactly what they need, when they need it. Every transfer gets a unique link that works in any browser with no account required to access it, so there is no barrier between your recipient and the files. You can lock any transfer behind a password or restrict access to a specific list of verified email addresses, keeping shared folders within the right hands. Download tracking lets you see who has actually retrieved files and when, giving you a clear picture of how your materials are being used.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Yes, on an Ultimate plan or above you can set a transfer to never expire, meaning your folder link stays active until you choose to close or delete it. Free and Starter transfers have a fixed maximum expiry, so they are better suited to short-term handoffs than evergreen resources. If you need a folder to remain permanently reachable, for a portfolio, an asset library, or an ongoing project, Ultimate gives you that control.

Yes. When you upload a folder, WeTransfer preserves the original directory structure so recipients download it exactly as it left your machine. There is no flattening of nested subfolders and no renaming, which matters when the folder hierarchy is part of how the content is organized and used.

No. Anyone with the download link can open it in a browser and access the files without signing up or logging in to WeTransfer. This keeps the experience frictionless for clients, collaborators, or anyone else receiving your folder, regardless of whether they have ever used WeTransfer before.

Yes. You can add a password so only people you tell the password to can open the transfer, or you can restrict access to a specific list of email addresses so only verified recipients can download. Both options are available on all plans and can be set at the time of sending or updated from your Transfers panel after the transfer is live.

On an Ultimate plan or above, you can recover expired transfers, including ones that expired before you upgraded, as long as the recovery window applies. For Free or Starter accounts, expired transfers cannot be recovered, so the sender would need to re-upload. The simplest way to avoid this for team resources is to set the transfer to never expire in the first place, which removes the countdown entirely.
